Question: Why do I need to take medicine for life even after changing my lifestyle?
Answer: Most of the hypertensive patients do not even know that they are sick. There are two reasons for this. One, the symptoms of this disease do not emerge and secondly, the process of checking blood pressure is not correct. The main causes of hypertension are diseases of the heart, brain, arteries and kidneys. When kidney failure or stroke occurs, it is known that there was hypertension. Since 2010, hypertension has increased significantly in poor countries. Therefore, the problems of kidney and stroke have also increased.
Question: What is the right way to test for hypertension?
Answer: Blood pressure should not be measured as soon as you reach the doctor. The first person should sit quietly for at least 5 minutes. The bladder should be light. Do not even talk during the investigation. Then blood pressure should be measured 3 times at an interval of 5 minutes. There should be no noise around the test site. The average of three tests should be considered as correct blood pressure. It should also be accompanied by ECG.
Question: What are the causes of this disease?
Answer: Even after decades of research, the exact cause is not known in 90% of the cases. If the disease is hereditary, then the risk increases. This disease is also more due to being around air or noise or both pollution. Average BP between 120/70 to 130/80 is normal. If above 130/80 then it is in pre-hyper tension stage. Need to take medicine above 140/90. Take the medicine for life, otherwise the disease will reach the heart, brain, kidney.
Question: What lifestyle changes should patients make?
Answer: Eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Stay away from smoking. Avoid oil and fat. Do exercise-yoga. Sleep for 8 hours. Avoid disappointment. Be happy Keep obesity down. Take care even if you are skinny.
Question: Women are getting more disease than men. What is the reason for this?
Answer: Women do very little BP test as compared to men. That's why they find out late. Because of this, it also takes more time to control blood pressure. There is also a strange trend around the world that when the husband has any disease, the wife takes full care, but if the wife has any disease, the husband does not take care of the wife with the same vigor. It will have to be changed.
